This Italian passport was issued to George Orleans Delamotte for the journey from Corfu to England in around 1817. Delamotte was possibly commissioned by the Rolls family to sketch a series of landscapes across Monmouthshire.

A plated metal artificial nose, dating to the 17th century. Artificial noses like this would be worn by wealthy people who lost their original nose, most likely the result of late stage syphilis which causes the nose to collapse. Wellcome Collection
