I am heartbroken to report that our treasured and beloved colleague Will Noel died yesterday from injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Edinburgh. It is hard to imagine a world, and a medieval studies, without him. 🧵

We are extremely saddened to hear that Will Noel passed away yesterday. He was a pioneer in the field of digital manuscript studies, a relentless advocate of open access, friend and colleague to many in the DM community. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family.
