Great day at school!!

Hey there fellow FMSD Tweeters! My name is Angie Harms, and this is my fifth year as literacy specialist at GHMS! #FMSD12Days

I am currently reading #180Days with my ELA Dept.; we are getting some new ideas & reinforcing best practices we have already been working on in classrooms! It's always difficult to fit it all in! Excited to hear the authors, @pennykittle and Kelly Gallagher next Monday! #FMSD12Days

Neither Literacy nor STEAM are taught in isolation. In ELA we constantly incorporate elements of all content areas.We choose texts that relate, have students collaborate, use critical thinking skills through analysis, & show compassion and creativity in what we create!#FMSD12Days

Day 6: "This Just In" is a great lesson from #CommonSenseEd that relates well to how we teach our 8th graders to analyze text for bias when they see absolute/extreme language, numbers and stats, contradictions, etc. #FMSD12Days

Day 7: Props to Mr. Cook for giving a lot of opportunity for students to communicate/collaborate like today when they discussed their books and then chose a journal response to revise together. #FMSD12Days

Day 8: Students have really enjoyed using @Flipgrid to practice presentation/communication skills, and I think it is a great way for students to offer feedback to one another! #FMSD12Days

Day 9: If you want to protect your students' personally identifiable information do these 3 things: check for the S in the URL (https), find the site's privacy policy, or consult an expert in district or at Common Sense Media #FMSD12Days

Day 11: 🎄🏖 I think this is a favorite of many and my family traditionally watches it on Thanksgiving! #FMSD12Days
