“Man crush” on a Judge in an important case? Great judge? I taught evidence and I would have flunked Merchan for allowing the irrelevant and sensational testimony of Stormy Daniels discussing sex. It had zero to do with the indictment and was only to inflame the jury.

It is not bizarre that the court did not send the written jury instructions back with the jury.

And shame on the public who trash the jurors…we want to encourage people to serve on juries. I have never found a juror who did not try his best - blame the lawyers and the judge for how they presented the case, not the jurors.

I taught evidence in a law school (and other subjects) and I have tried cases. I do think this judge did a poor job in many of his rulings.

Apparently you have never served on a jury. Every juror I have ever met takes his/her job seriously.

The jury system is not perfect - but you tell me what is a better system. It happens to be the best system in the world, even with imperfections. By the way, the imperfections are usually as a result of how the lawyers presented their cases and the judges’ rulings.

One of the most boring parts of a trial for spectators is the jury instructions - but they are profoundly important. They are also a frequent reason why convictions get reversed - that the judge erred in what instructions were given to the jury to guide them.

My experience is that jurors take their jobs very seriously. Everyone has biases and the challenge in every case for each juror is to get beyond his/her personal biases and examine and weigh the evidence fairly.
