Level par today around Augusta is great golf. One player is better than -2 on their round right now and that’s Sam Burns who shot 80 yesterday & is now just one shot outside the projected cut. 30+mph wind & sun drying the course is going to make it very tricky for late starters.

Due to the poor weather conditions expected tomorrow at Ballybunion Golf Club, the final round of the Flogas Irish Boys’ Amateur Open Championship is cancelled.

The results after today’s play are now final, meaning Seán Keeling is the 2024 Flogas Irish Boys’ Champion 🏆

This is amateur golf & it might seem on the one hand idyllic & niche but at the heart of this is a duel of high sporting endeavour after 5 days of competition. I don’t cover enough of it but I’ve covered a lot over the years. Male or female, it’s arguably the purest form of golf.

Guessing this is a familiar state of footwear right now after a round of golf on the first day of the season among players in Ireland, Britain & a lot of Northern Europe. Be patient with your ground staff. They are under severe pressure. And of course this applies to many sports.

A simple but clear explanation as to why so many world and National records are tumbling (some by large margins) these last few years. Love to see an equivalent test with competition spikes…with and without carbon plate ‘spring effect’ technology..
