Next week I won’t be here but the wonderful Squeaky is going to step in and host for me! The theme will be WHITES! It’s also end of the month Q&A time #GardensHour Thank you Squeaky 🙏

Huge thanks to Squeaky for hosting for me last week while I was away, looks like it was a fab #GardensHour 👏 This week we’ll welcome SEPTEMBER to our gardens - have a think about what this means for you and I’ll see you back here in just under an hour! 😊

Hi #gardenshour! Our new Woolch sprang from Jonathan’s past life in mixed farming. Wool is often treated as a waste product! In last year’s drought, he used raw fleece around plants and made a wet bed to stand pots on to reduce water use. Woolch was born! grazers.co.uk/why-green-matt…

Always feel that appearance of the flowers of Cyclamen hederifolium in my Derbyshire garden is an indication September is here, or almost……it will soon the beginning of a new academic year and a portent if autumn ⁦GardensHour⁩ #GardensHour

This was one of my "experiments" this year - Shoofly plants! They're so cool 😍 although the slugs did take some pretty large chunks out of the stems, so they're now slightly worse for wear 😬 #GardensHour #GardeningTwitter

'Hurrahing in Harvest' Gerard Manley Hopkins. Summer ends now; now, barbarous in beauty, the stooks arise Around; up above, what wind-walks! what lovely behaviour Of silk-sack clouds! has wilder, wilful-waiver Meal-drift moulded ever and melted across the skies? #GardensHour

Popped to the garden centre last week, and whilst I didn't get any new plants, I did spot this beautiful Bee Chafer, which is far more exciting! Isn't it fabulous?! I've never seen one before. I wonder if it came on a delivery of plants? #GardensHour #Beetles

GardensHour Squeaky Autumn is the most important time to get your compost on the ground and ideally some good biology so we're looking forward to one of our busy periods! #GardensHour

We shred wool from Cumbrian fell farms, mostly Herdwicks. Added charcoal fines (biochar) from a wood coppice coop remove the feel of lanolin, act as a soil sweetener and absorb carbon. An essential plant oil reduces the sheep smell (a Marmite sensation - love/hate)! #gardenshour

Woolch was created as a mulch alternative but we’re finding added benefits - repelling rabbits from grazing/digging. Some effects against slugs/snails reported when fresh and dry. Let us know! Woolch comes in 50-litre boxes - no plastic. grazers.co.uk/why-green-matt…. #gardenshour
