Elizabeth was born at Greenwich Palace & it was the place she last saw her mom, #AnneBoleyn .
As Queen👑, #ElizabethI spent a lot of time there & lavished💰on decorating & refurbishing it.
She also restored her dad’s tiltyard, remodelled its banqueting house & added fountains⛲️.
Soon after #AnneBoleyn became Queen, major works began at Hampton Court.
A whole new wing was designed for the Queen’s apartments with:
- study
- oratory
- dressing room
- huge wardrobe
- jewel house💎
- bathroom with hot & cold running water
- galleries with forest🌳 views.
Anne of Cleves was granted a generous divorce settlement by #HenryVIII , including Richmond Palace & Hever Castle.
She made many changes to Hever Castle, such as adding a fashionable long gallery & this entrance hall for a stylish access up the staircase & into her bedroom above.
Went creeping into the crypt
at Penshurst Place
& found #Tudor costumes on display from 🎥 “The Other Boleyn Girl” (2008).
It was used as the main location for filming.
“Wolf Hall” was also filmed here in 2014.

Very exciting to see the floor upstairs at Hever Castle – once the private family rooms of #AnneBoleyn & her family – stripped bare & ready to set up as they would have looked in the 16th century.
Enjoyed a “behind the scenes” tour to get a taste of what to expect this summer!
Gorgeous details from inside the heavenly #HeverCastle ❤️
Taken by an ecstatically happy AnneBoleyn this morning 😊
The drawing room at Hever Castle, where the fabulously wealthy Astor family served pre-dinner drinks to the likes of Queen Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill & George Bernard Shaw
In #AnneBoleyn ’s time it consisted of a series of smaller rooms: larders, a dairy, buttery & scullery
