Just seen the oft quoted ‘1 in 2 of us are affected by dementia’.

This is scare mongering. if we know someone living with dementia we just know them, help them, enjoy them. We are not ‘affected’ by them.

1.3% of the population have dementia at some stage, early to late.

Today, I am very sad to announce the following statement 😔
I want to thank West Yorkshire Police and my neighbours and friends who were there for me in these difficult times.

I keep getting phoned by SaTH appointments, told to call a number, with no time to write it down, ditto a call reference…so I cannot call back.

Stoopid. Now I don’t know if my appt next week is cancelled (again) or if it’s just a reminder.

Pls change this system.

Good morning 😊
My eyes didn’t want to open this morning !🤣
I have 2 pieces this morning, not what I quite had in my head when I set out to paint them, but it shows that sometimes if you don’t succeed…don’t give up!
Try again 😊
Because next time you might surprise yourself!

Nicky Twigs and Toads💙🕷️🕸️ Debbie Carroll Exactly! It’s all about the culture of the care home & recognising the value of time outside. The one w roaming chickens & open doors sounds wonderful!
But plastic lawns & no access is so sad. We need homes to see that the benefits far outweigh the risks for mobility & wellbeing

Anna Park Debbie Carroll Yes! A Council run care home a relative had short stay in was amazing. Chickens wandering around and residents feeding them. Doors wide open. In another, if living upstairs absolutely no access to outdoors unless accompanied by relative. If living downstairs, plastic lawn.

Anna Park Debbie Carroll Too right!
as you are no doubt aware
without the sounds of nature
after 6 months
our mental health spirals downward

I feel so sad for people who may never go outdoors again & feel the breeze or sun on their cheeks

At last it's warm enough for a cuppa in the garden without a coat. Daisies in wildflower lawn looking happy. So why don't we go into the garden?
