I've seen few comedians as adept at being *kind* alongside side-achingly funny as Brennan - he seems to embody Pratchett's sentiment of "if you're punching down, it's not satire, it's bullying." Detoxifying nerd culture while he's at it, too. It's so nice to see him rise!

When Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz first learned about geographic information systems, or GIS, as a #geographyteacher in the 1990s, he didn’t need much convincing about how useful it would be. “I said to my colleagues, ‘This is going to change the world'" theconversation.com/as-a-high-scho…

There have been a few #gremlins chasing around in TeachWithGIS.co.uk over the last couple of weeks.... Sorry if you were unlucky enough to bump into one! I think we have chased them all away. If you ever find something not working as you think it should please let me know!

I'm teaming up with Melanie Janine Brown MBE and others to make the UK the first Western country to introduce a law ending Afro hair discrimination. We’re calling for Afro hair to be recognised as a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010. theguardian.com/world/article/…

Thanks Steve, really appreciate you noting the importance of GIS and OS maps before we even get out into the field. Huge advantages to familiarising students before they leave your classroom, particularly for students with anxiety about being off site!

If you are trying to use English IMD data in ArcGIS Online you might be having some problems - this is down to how the official govt data set is shared - it should be fixed later this week! 🧵

👇🏼 David Morgan (He/Him) always thinking hard about cartography and how we communicate data in our teach with GIS resources. I am a big fan of this new colour scheme for IMD 💜🧡

‘Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.’ A Hat Full of Sky, Terry Pratchett 📚
