Overlooking Caernarfon bay is the beautiful St Baglan’s church, in the tender care of Friendless Churches. From its whitewashed walls and 5-6th century lintel over the door, to its medieval nave, 18th C box pews, oak pulpit and heptagonal font, it’s so very beautiful. (1-2)

St Ellyw’s, Llanelieu is renowned for its huge 14th-century rood screen and loft. The wooden panels are painted red and decorated with stencilled white roses. In the centre, the white cross remains as a ghostly reminder of the former rood that once stood on the rood beam.

Until 1868, all Anglican churches were legally required to display the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments on their east walls. In Tuxlith Chapel, West Sussex, these once mandatory fittings survive, along with an enormous 18th-century wine-glass stem pulpit.
