Plankton means “wanderer” in Greek. Plankton makes up a large group of different life forms that are very small (mostly) and cannot swim against the currents and waves. Plankton forms the base of a lot of marine food webs, and its abundance varies with season.

Hawksbill Turtle, Eretmochelys imbricata is the most common species of turtle seen in the Maldivian waters. It is classified as critically endangered by the IUCN.

Double-saddle Coral Grouper, Plectropomus leavis. It is a larger species of Grouper and can be found in different reef habitats. The juveniles and young adults have bright yellow fins and the bars are black.
