#Malta elected in second place to Category C of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council — a significant achievement among the 176 participating member nations. This accomplishment marks the most impressive result in our country’s history with the IMO.

Proud that after months of rigorous negotiations, Transport Malta has reached an agreement with UHM regarding the new collective agreement for its employees. An agreement affecting 650+ families.

At the 33rd IMO General Assembly in📍 #London , #Malta 🇲🇹 plays a key role. Thanks to our strategic position & 13-year membership, we're pivotal in shaping #maritime policy.

The Shore-to-Ship project enters crucial testing with cruise liners, aiming to cut ship engine use for eco-friendly electric power. A significant move to slash 90% of air pollution, benefiting 17,000 local families & showcasing government's commitment to health & sustainability.

🇲🇹🇬🇷🇨🇾 Strengthening #maritime unity in #Athens : collaboration with European Commission & IMO is key. We're concerned about EU environmental regs like ETS. Let's protect jobs and competitiveness while reducing emissions.

In #Greece I engaged with Kostas Bakoyannis & leadership of #Athens 🇬🇷 to delve into ongoing initiatives, our shared vision, immediate priorities, and the challenges faced by both countries. Our primary focus was on urban mobility & alternative transportation methods.

If we do not allow business aviation to reap rewards for its #decarbonisation efforts under the EU taxonomy, we risk that #European companies will move to markets outside the Union. #EBAA2023

We must encourage investors’ confidence in #green transition. During #EBAA2023 , I urged my European colleagues to have a fresh look at business aviation; aircraft are the quickest to adopt advanced technologies & should have a pathway to climate neutrality under the EU taxonomy.

I hosted the Cypriot Minister Alexis Vafeades of Transport, Communication and Work, in #Malta . We engaged in bilateral meetings & toured a number of projects and initiatives with the aim of enhancing the collaborative efforts between our two countries.

I am committed to overseeing the #green transition of our #aviation sector, guaranteeing safety & aspirations of our citizens & businesses, while also ensuring we remain #competitive & continue to grow. Well done to the organisers of #MACE2023 for another successful conference.
