Now it’s catching on, paradigm shifts take time 😏, and improved structural outcomes (“healing”) are actually often possible!

It is worth trying patient education and exercise therapy to delay joint replacement surgery. Those with greater improvement immediately after GLA:D had a lower likelihood of hip and knee replacement at 2 years. Just published: acrjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ac…

Neuromuscular exercise with and without strength training seems to reduce intermuscular fat by 21-25% and increase quadriceps muscle cross-sectional area and muscle strength in people with knee osteoarthritis. Great work led by Pætur Mikal Holm

Non-surgical treatments may be as effective as surgery for most musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. 🆓

Yet, with higher-quality RCTs in the future, this conclusion could potentially change.
