At today’s #FAC , Defence Ministers discussed the EU military support to Ukraine and how to enhance the European Union’s defence readiness.
“We need to spend together, better, more European”, said HR/VP Josep Borrell Fontelles.

The Georgian people overwhelmingly want to join the EU.

But the law on foreign influence transparency goes against core principles & values of the EU, negatively impacting Georgia's EU path.

We're considering all options & urge the government to recommit to the EU aspirations.

Glad to speak at Friends of Europe on the “ #Ukraine : cost of inaction”-study.

#EUEnlargement depends on the implementation of reforms & 🇺🇦 has done an admirable job so far.

The process takes time, but reforms needed for enlargement will provide 🇺🇦impetus for economic growth!

#EU reiterates its firm position that the 🇬🇪law on “foreign influence” is against EU principles & values, backsliding on at least 3/9 steps & will negatively impact #Georgia 's 🇪🇺path.

There's still time for 🇬🇪 authorities to act in line w/ the pro-EU orientation of 🇬🇪's society.

The EU regrets that the Georgian Parliament decided to override the President's veto on the law on transparency of foreign influence, and to disregard the Venice Commission's legal arguments leading to a clear recommendation to repeal this law.

Important show of solidarity at yesterday's #SyriaConf2024 Ministerial event.

The 🇪🇺 #EU pledged a total of €2.12 billion for the most pressing needs of Syrians inside Syria & Syrian refugees & host communities in 🇱🇧🇹🇷🇯🇴🇮🇶 & reiterated its full support to a political solution.

Since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the EU's role as a security and defence actor has been significantly strengthened.

In the conclusions adopted today, the Council highlights the need to further increase defence readiness and enhance sovereignty.

Since October 2023, in Gaza:
- almost 300 teachers have been killed
- 90% of school buildings have been destroyed or damaged

No child is currently attending school.

With EU support, NRC Middle East & North Africa organises education activities for displaced children and caregivers in Rafah.

We should never take #democracy for granted.
