okay! I'm going to LessOnline, and while I'm there I want to run Conflict Improv (an event idea I've been batting around in my head for some years)

I'm deciding whether to go to LessOnline, but if I say this to my friends, I expect to mostly hear 'do it' because there is no incentive to tell your friend 'your blog is probably too sparse/shitty for you to go to that one'. hard to get broad social signal on the matter

me calling out joyously as I see CJ outside the window across the street: That's our housemate CJ! He is walking back from the gym!

81k: Is this really that exciting?

me: Yes. Normally, when I see him, he is indoors.

My parents (diplomats not spooks) have a story about a Moscow BBQ in the same era, where they became aware there was a man in the hedge. They pushed a plate of food into the hedge for him, and after a while he pushed it back out, clean. Shashank Joshi

there's a condo on the route from my house to a friend's house w grass almost 2 stories tall next to it. spouse and I once had a strangely intense argument about HOW tall (never resolved bc we've only seen it in flashes while driving) and now my bf calls it the homewrecking grass

Which do you value more in your own work, and which do you value more in the work of others?

kind of interesting that whenever the highway is plugged up red on google maps (and I have to find an alternate route or accept a delay) this corresponds to someone on that highway having like the worst day of their life

one of the common ways I mess up socially is being accidentally/unnecessarily mean

I've pondered why I do it, and it's because 'countersignaling liking' jokes work REALLY well when they work, and it intermittent-reinforces me into taking the risk when I see a promising angle
