Things I never understood when I was in TV - why a storm's current status/strength was put in a news script. By the time it's run, it's often outdated - example - today with Hurricane Kiko. Script says Cat 2, it's already a Cat 1.

This "approaching peak-season lull" has me fascinated. It's almost been an observed pattern these last few years in 2022, 2024, and now 2025 - always making us question how late-season activity will be to account for the lack of ACE. And in these seasons, it seems that

8PM MONDAY UPDATE ON THE COASTAL LOW: 1-3” of rain is expected (highest southeast) from Monday-Tuesday night. Localized totals of 3-4” are possible across SE VA/NE NC. A Flood Watch has been issued and is in effect into late Tuesday for SE VA/NE NC. Showers linger through Wed

WINDY over the next 24-36 hours. Some gusts up to 50 possible at the coast. NWS has several area of 45+ in their forecast grids.

Finally, the tidal flooding will peak Tuesday around high tide (4-8pm). Moderate tidal flooding (5.5ft) in the metro. Lower than Erin, but still impactful as it's around the evening rush hour.

Streets flooded in several neighborhoods throughout Virginia Beach. This is just from heavy rainfall thus far. With high tide at 5:30pm and more heavy rain on the way, this will likely get worse. The Weather Channel

Certainly has that look. Will be interesting to see if it's given TS status in post season re analysis.
