President 賴清德Lai Ching-te stated today that the US has notified Taiwan of a temporary tariff rate of 20%. Negotiations have yet to conclude; once an agreement is reached, the rate is expected to be further reduced. The Presidential Office will hold a briefing at 11:30 this morning.

Earlier today, we learned that the US has set 20% as an interim tariff rate for Taiwan. As negotiations have yet to conclude, we will continue talks towards further reduction. I'm confident our frank and sincere discussions will result in deeper ties that benefit both economies.

80 years ago, as WWII ended, 25 Allied crew and freed POWs perished in a plane crash on Mt. Sancha—26 rescuers, including Taiwanese & Japanese, sacrificed their lives in recovery efforts. A team recently returned to the summit to honor their heroism. 1/2 bit.ly/4pejqRs
