With thanks to Colin Smith elsewhere, who posted this splendid poster for the 1929 German 'Der Hund von Baskerville'. No-one's ever managed to do a genuinely terrifying Big Woof of the Baskervilles on screen, but this poster makes it look like they've come bloody close.

In this week's crumbles to dust news - 30 years and 21 years this week since Next Gen and Buffy aired their finales, apparently. Both are still wedged in a corner of my cold, flinty old heart. They meant - and always will - mean an awful lot to me. My god though. Tempus Fudgits.

'So, for 20 years Paul Rudd's played the same joke on Conan O'Brien during his talkshow appearances, settting up a promotion for his new film and playing a clip from Mac and Me instead. When he appeared on Conan's podcast, he did it again. ON AUDIO.'

'If everyone on Earth uses T-Mat & the Martians need a homing signal to guide them onto the moon - as The Doctor, Jamie and Zoe do - how do Slaar's shock troops get there? They're suddenly on the moon's surface and inside T-Mat control. How did they land? It doesn't make sense!'

You buy this week's issue of TV Times, you get Ned of Wales pulling THAT face staring at you from your coffee table for seven days. Fair enough, so.

At 1'45 in this compilation of Thames continuity and adverts from 28th April 1983, Kenneth Williams pops up in an ad that is quite bizarre, even by his standards. However, the framing of it seems appropriate this week. youtube.com/watch?v=SM6HAS…

For my new followers who are principally here for the life and times of Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton, here we see him, with remarkable stoicism, countenancing the hard truth that his first expedition to the southern most patch of the garden has ended in failure.

'And if you've just tuned in for your CBBC programmes this afternoon, because of today's General Election you'll find it all including today's Jackanory story 'Everlasting' by Natalie Babbett, Captain Zep Super Space Detective and The Secret of Steel City over on BBC2.'

They're pre-programmed, aren't they? Can't respond to anything that comes at them outside of the responses they have prepared. Just doggedly keep on going at it.

Happy Birthday Humph, born on this day in 1923. I'll gather the Four Most Available Talents in the country to pay tribute to you later on. Still loved. Still Missed.

If you haven't got this yet, I recommend it very, much. Equal fun whether you read it straight through or dip in and out (I defy you not to go to your birthday first thing). Justin reveals how many great and fascinating things happen in pop music, every single day.
