Great piece! We know the BLM movements antidote to the "Great Man Theory" was to pre select leaders while sidelining community members like D. Seals who didn't fit their platform. Leadership is organic. Can't control it, only refine it. We need more stories like this

I really felt this. What’s most sad is knowing that a Black man can be deeply unhappy, yet stay silent because he knows that expressing his unhappiness will offend people. Black will keep their unhappiness bottled up because it makes others uncomfortable.
