This week's Los Angeles Times layoffs will leave the 40 million people who live in the Golden State less informed about the everyday issues that impact their lives. Journalism gives a voice to the voiceless and keeps all of us accountable. This is sad news for the state and our democracy.
We lost irreplaceable talent in our newsroom this week including valuable members of our photo department. I am forever grateful to Francine Orr for being a mentor, friend, and a fierce photojournalist who risked her own life to bring us the truth. 💔
