This is the time to vocally support Delia Ramirez Stop the Bombs Act. No Democrat who wants to lead our party should be for providing Benjamin Netanyahu - בנימין נתניהו with offensive weapons while he is complicit in a mass man-made starvation. I am proud to join as a co sponsor.

A WORRISOME *FUTURISTIC* JOBS REPORT: In the newsletter, I wrote about today's labor market data, and how it was not only bad, but bad in a specific way that could portend a more ominous direction of the economy

One wishes. A Sultanistic oligarchy is not state capitalism. It is a system of discretionary control by a ruling clique. Dan Wang: “The core characteristic of China’s state capitalism is discipline, and Trump is the complete opposite of that.”

I would be very happy to debate the merits of an independent central bank (as Congress most definitely did when it created the Fed!!!) Anyone who pretends that Trump’s naked power grab is striking a blow for democracy is a rogue.

Branko Milanovic How is he bringing accountability back to legislative offices? He's usurping Congress's control over central bank mandate and personnel. I've been in many left conversations around democratizing central banks and "the White House sets the rates" has almost never been a focus.

Just as with the administration’s specious claims to be “democratizing” the Fed, we shouldn’t mistake the destruction of the administrative state for a more accountable mode of statecraft.

useful piece on why govt equity stakes can be good but the Trumpy version - just one part of his gigantic, personal power grab - is surely bad

ProPublica looked into Trump’s cabinet and found three members who claimed multiple properties as a primary residence, the same accusation made against Fed governor Lisa Cook.

Jack Goldsmith How much deference does Trump get if the charge is demonstrably false? Would SCOTUS rule on the merits of the supposed “cause” without insisting that “cause” *must* involve some measure of due process? Otherwise what actually are the limits on presidential power here?
