Forking an active repo to apply a small modification is almost always a bad idea & should be a last resort.
Everywhere I’ve ever worked, we’ve had one of these pieces of tech debt— you lose the ability to get updates. It’s technically possible to rebase, but costly in practice.
Underrated maneuver: run a big scraping job with Python, then pickle the response out to disk. Spend the rest of your session reading/interacting with the pickle file instead of re-running the request. Saves a bunch of time & potentially prevents you from triggering an API limit.
