Uploaded an example of practice to the Reading for Pleasure 🧶 site today. My first one for a while. We recently had a Year 10 pupil visit and make book recommendations to our Year 5/6 pupils. The impact was massive as they viewed her as a cooler and older friend. Definitely worth doing.

I’ve finished reading Little House by Katya Balen last week and have been thinking about it since. I find that I don’t just read Katya Balen’s words but I drink them and the messages circle my body like real nutrient.

This book is flooring. I'm 2/3 in. You root for Noor & Sal down to the atomic level, I long for it to turn out okay for them, yet I hold out zero hope it will. Each page feels heavy with sadness, made sharper by how fragile the flickers of hope are. Totally emotionally consuming.

The kiddos choosing new books for the book corner this half-term, a fun way to spend 30 minutes this afternoon.

Today is session two reading through The Children of Swallow Fell by Julia Green with my Just Imagine book club Elmhurst Primary School. It was my favourite book of the club last year & last week was such a joy again. It's a book that deserves to be raved about far more than it is.

Started All My Rage from the UKLA 11-14+ shortlist today. I'm not far through yet but, so far, it is equal parts brilliant and intense. Definitely NOT one that can cross into primary 😂

A 2 hour INSET on a Monday eve generally fills me with dread, but the session by Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) CIC on how & why they are helping Elmhurst Primary School reinvigorate play time/spaces was inspiring. I sent my wife a dozen messages about how we should change things at home for our own kids!
