The NGCB is the first gaming commission to take official action against sports betting companies for offering sports event contracts.

With several sports betting operators planning to enter the prediction market space, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission sent a letter to licensees reminding them that they are prohibited from offering sports event contracts in the state.

This seems like a more defensible position for a state gaming regulator than those threatening to pull licenses/review suitability for licensees offering contracts in non-OSB states. “Don’t offer contracts here, and maybe don’t offer contracts in states with OSB.”

According to the U.S. DOJ, Guardians pitcher Emmanuel Clase today entered a plea of not guilty in Brooklyn Federal Court for role in a sports betting scandal. Clase was released on a $600,000 bond. He can only travel in NYC, Long Island, and Ohio. He is prohibited from gambling.
