"Within Jesuit and Catholic institutions of higher education, there are many...engaged in the search for justice and peace in Israel-Palestine; for others it remains an issue that is “too complex” or “far removed” or “controversial.”" By Julie Cohen conversationsmagazine.org/gaza-and-israe…
Thank you Jesuits East for sharing this piece I wrote Conversations on Jesuit Higher Education Magazine to reflect on what more Jesuit higher education can do to promote a ceasefire in Gaza and just peace in Israel-Palestine drawing on the legacy of Fr. "More Palestinian women and children were killed in Gaza by the Israeli military over the past year than during the equivalent period of any other conflict over the past two decades." Julie Cohen in America Magazine americamagazine.org/politics-socie…
Glad to share U.S. Catholic magazine my reflection on Pope Leo XIV Francis' legacy on Palestine/Israel, consistently calling for a Gaza ceasefire, release of Israeli hostages and bringing attention to the suffering and dignity of Palestinians as part of his advocacy for justice and peace.
This piece in Commonweal Magazine on “Catholic Guilt and Gaza” urges Catholics to see how refraining from the struggle for justice for Palestinians bc of guilt over historic Christian antisemitism has led to abandoning the Palestinian people to such grievous effect.
Grateful for the opportunity to reflect in CM Research on how resettling of Afrikaners and the shunning of South Africa makes a mockery of refugee resettlement based on international norms and the claim of genocide.
