One might nearly think this was more about funding newspapers via the back door than it was about informing the public.

On a serious note, a recurring theme with this Government: More communications advisers than anybody other institution or company on the island, and yet somehow every problem ends up being, to their eyes, a matter of 'poor communications'.

Never poor policy.

This Jadon Sancho looks like a good player in the Champions League semi. Some big English club should sign him up.

Rishi Sunak tells the House of Commons that the UK has no legal obligations to accept asylum seekers returned from Ireland (and says the UK Govt is seeking urgent clarification that the 100 GardaÍ being redirected to frontline immigration duty are not being sent to the border)

Rishi Sunak says the Irish 'must uphold promises to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland' and is seeking 'urgent clarification that there will be no disruption or police checkpoints at or near the border'.
That's some top trolling. Gotta love it.😂

This is utterly bizarre. It's as if the Irish Government is saying that it is incapable of passing or updating its own legislation to deal with new challenges.

'If the EU doesn't do it for us we're stuck with the old system', is basically the message. That's absurd.

JOHN MCGUIRK: As the political crises mount in Ireland, at least one politician thinks she knows what the real problems are. 'It's time for a real national conversation', the Government Chief Whip said yesterday.

Former Minister Michael Ring absolutely tearing into Stephen Donnelly & Government in the Dáil now. He says coming into the House is an 'inconvenience' for Donnelly and blasts how Gov lets in 'everyone from around the world' but it wont let our people leave without a passport.'

Thanks to the person who flagged to me that this individual is, and I quote, “a paid instructor & PhD candidate at Columbia studying ‘theories of the imagination & poetry as interpreted through a Marxian lens’.”

Of course they are.

There are now, by my count, 26 candidates for (edited) five seats in Midlands North West. If you're someone like me who votes the whole way down, best set aside an hour or so on polling day.

What difference does this make? Under the law, if you present at a border crossing and tell an official that you wish to seek asylum, you've got to be allowed in. That's our 'international legal and moral obligation'.

Have those obligations changed?
