I am appalled by the execution of British-Iranian citizen Alireza Akbari in Iran. This was a callous and cowardly act, carried out by a barbaric regime with no respect for the human rights of their own people. My thoughts are with Alireza’s friends and family.

Iran has executed a British national. This barbaric act deserves condemnation in the strongest possible terms. This will not stand unchallenged. My thoughts are with Alireza Akbari’s family.

Views on the CCP in 🇪🇺 are evolving, and in countries that experienced Soviet communist occupation, the tie-up between 🇷🇺and 🇨🇳 around the Ukraine war is a significant concern. Who knows better what this means than the 13 countries in Central and Eastern Europe? No one.

Dnes jsem mluvil s prezidentkou Tchaj-wanu Cchaj Jing-wen. Poděkoval jsem jí za gratulaci a ujistil jsem ji, že Tchaj-wan a Česká republika sdílí hodnoty svobody, demokracie a lidských práv a že budeme dále posilovat naše partnerství.

Rozumím, že Čína má k mému hovoru s Tchaj-wanem výhrady. My jsme ale suverénní země a děláme to, co považujeme za správné. Tchaj-wan je demokratická země a my s ním sdílíme hodnoty, ale i významné obchodní vztahy, což je zcela v souladu se schválenou koncepcí zahraniční politiky.
