The Treasurer sees every problem as one that can be solved with more spending, and then gaslights us about inflation.

Australia continues to kick the can down the road. Budget pressures continue to mount, with nothing done about them. Difficult reform plans sit gathering dust.

It’s extremely random to see Scots College, a school established in 1893 in Sydney, Australia, cosplay as an older British school by using Scottish baronial style.

This is cringe. Would be right at home on kate wagner

The consensus among economists on the harm that rent controls cause is extremely strong.

It is a failed policy. It is counter productive. It is a distraction from the reforms we genuinely need to address the housing crisis.

The HECS student loan changes might also be the first pro-Millennial policy from either party.

Has the political dominance of the Millennials finally appeared?

“A University of Sydney spokesperson confirmed that the images were 'from today on campus, as part of a peaceful procession'.”

Happy to be corrected but is that not the Al-Qaeda flag?

After all the breathless hot takes over the last two days about Susan Hall in with a chance of winning, Sadiq increased his vote share.

Unclear if just my twitter feed, but doesn’t reflect well on the commentariat class. Khan was always ahead in the polls.

It’s crazy to have to wait this long for English local election results.

No excuse for counting to be this slow. Either councils have to be forced to speed the process up, or a new model is needed.

Combo of low capital investment, poor use of data/digital, and the political solution to every problem being to hire more nurses, doctors, police and teachers.

When do the results come in? Could be Friday, could be Saturday, could be Sunday! Your guess is as good as ours.

Does the BBC cover all the elections happening? No, we don’t! Go look up the results yourself. You’re as lazy as a local council counting votes.

Mess.

- 107 of 317 councils are electing either a third, a half or all their councillors
- 11 of 13 combined authorities are electing mayors (inc London)
- 37 of 41 Police and Crime Commissioners are being elected in England and wales

How did local elections get this messy in England?

UK makes zero effort to engage with this huge pool of potential talent. Other countries have diaspora outreach agencies, strategies, reserved seats in parliaments, etc.

Until January 2024 the UK actively disenfranchised overseas citizens as well.

We should be cheering businesses who make their services cheaper for consumers like this more often.

It’s depressing how the anti-productivity mindset has become so widely accepted.
