ROAD UPDATE: Temporary park road closure of Haleakalā Highway above Leleiwi Overlook due to icy road conditions. The Summit and Summit Visitor Center are both closed until further notice. The Headquarters Visitor Center at 7,000 feet is open.

With the passing of Hurricane Douglas, the Summit District will reopen at 12:00 pm. There are no reports of any major damage due to the storm. NPS staff are clearing minor debris in the road. The Kīpahulu District is opened at 9:00 am. For more info visit nps.gov/hale.

The Summit District of Haleakalā NP is temporarily closed due to winter weather conditions effective 2/3/21 at 4:00pm. Closure begins at the Summit Entrance Station on Haleakalā Highway extending up to the summit. All sunrise reservations scheduled on 2/4/21 have been cancelled.
