A crazy experience — I lost my earbuds in a remote town in Chile, so tried buying a new pair at the airport before flying out. But the new wired, iPhone, lightning-cable headphones didn't work. Strange.

So I went back and swapped them for another pair, from a different brand.

Apparently agency FOIA officers actively taught NIH staff how to 'evade' FOIA. nytimes.com/2024/05/28/hea…

Recent draft guidance from U.S. FDA on 'platform technology designation' would enable companies to reuse prior data for future approvals.

A small step, a giant leap? We may be entering the 'reusable rocket' era for biotech...

One of the ways the FBI works to flout public records laws is to “accidentally” introduce little typos and misspellings into people’s FOIA requests. This will cause a delay of many months, may not be caught by the requester at all, and looks like an innocent error.

Going thru old files, found this early plan that was key to creation of Indiana HIE

Excited to return it in person today on visit to Regenstrief Institute, Inc.

Feel like I'm returning the Elgin Marbles back to their home. 😀

Cville For Reasonable Health Insurance People often didn't know about medical underwriting until the first time they needed self-purchased coverage. And HIPAA would continue to protect guaranteed-issue access to coverage in the group market (but not community rating for small groups).

Louise Norris Do you think that the broader public understands the consequences of returning to a system like this? There still seems to be a lot of people who believe that they're immune from being denied coverage and that it's someone else's problem.

Louise Norris As a former small business owner with a small group of 3-4 people, we were always afraid to use the insurance. We feared a lot of claims would cause our group rates to skyrocket. Plp take for granted a lot of the ACA protections they enjoy.

I became an insurance broker in 2003, working exclusively in the individual/family market. By far the worst part of my job was having to tell people that their application would be rejected due to their medical history.
