#Paleonusantara2 day 1 #paleonusantara Protoplotus beauforti, the oldest prehistoric bird in Indonesia where the fossil dated around Paleocene-Eocene (66-40 MYA) is found in West Sumatra.ย FYI, a bunch of well-preserved gastrolith remains were found in it's fossil.

Bagarius gigas, a large extinct species of sisorid catfish from the Eocene West Sumatra and Java. The fossil is fairly fragmentary, but it is estimated at 1.5-2m long, just like the extant Bagarius lica and Bagarius yarelli. #paleonusantara #paleonusantara2

You'll all have seen the many announcements and PR pieces from #ColossalBiosciences. There are reasons to be concerned about the general message promoted by CB, one being that it's seen >by some< (US politicians in particular) as meaning that we can devalue conservation. ๐Ÿงต1/n

When Silence Watches Panthera gombaszogensis rest beneath the ancient sky, watching a long-tailed shrike dart away in fear, not out of hunger, but quiet curiosity. In this still moment, even a predator pauses, not to chase, but to simply exist. #paleonusantara3 #paleoart #artwork
