Magnetars are extraordinary celestial objects, among the most magnetic in the universe. These neutron stars possess magnetic fields that are mind-bogglingly intense, orders of magnitude stronger than those of typical neutron stars or even other exotic objects like pulsars. 1/

Imagine if people knocked on your door to talk about science instead of religion. “Hi, we’d just like a quick chat about the possibility of life in the atmosphere of Venus, and thought you might be interested in hearing about phosphine”?

Priceless. Yes, elements (Lithium in this case) do in fact last forever, that's what makes them elements 🤣

She’s right: “A decision to delay is a decision. It is a decision to block federal trials from being completed before the election. It is a decision to keep the question — did Trump commit a crime? — unanswered before the American people must vote.“ wbur.org/cognoscenti/20…

Let’s be clear - this is the change Aotearoa votes for. Many were hoodwinked, but it is classic Tory playbook:
1. Campaign loudly on fixing everything
2. Get in and cry loudly about how expensive it is
3. Sell thing off to mates so they can make big money
4. Repeat

The world is just beginning to see solar’s potential.

A lot of people didn’t see coal coming when it was mined by hand and carted by horses.

The supply chain for solar is already mostly powered by electricity. That electricity is increasingly coming from solar.

SCOTUS possibilities:

1. Say there is no immunity in criminal context

2. Say there is immunity for “core” Art. II duties/powers mentioned in the Constitution (pardon, hiring/firing, negotiating with heads of state, command authority in the theater of war, etc)…none of which

Well, in the next 2.5 years, we better hope there’s no
Pandemic outbreak
Flooding
Earthquake disaster

Because this government has zero $$ and/or plan to deal with any of these.

But hey, landlord’s are happy 🙄😡

Chris Hipkins argues the government's borrowing & cutting of frontline staff in customs & internal affairs is not due to NZ's debt levels:

'Nicola Willis had already said she's going to be borrowing more in this Budget... she's borrowing for tax cuts. I think that's reckless.'

Chris Hipkins It feels more like lets break everything so we can sell out to overseas investors. We can't let this happen but on past performance of National this is their way of operating.

The current government’s decision to invite political donors to participate in the fast track consenting process stinks, particularly as ministers propose to give themselves the power to make arbitrary decisions. Ethical standards are an endangered species under this govt.

Claims of a bloated public service are just nonsense. In 2010 following the GFC the public service was 2.5% of the total workforce. In 2023 following COVID it was 2.6%. As the population has grown, demand for public services has grown too. (1/2)

The Luxon/National govt are hanging out a great big “open for business” sign to money launderers, online scammers, loan sharks, drug traffickers organized crime and child exploitation. This is a very dark day for New Zealand.

I am grateful to the United States House of Representatives, both parties, and personally Speaker Mike Johnson for the decision that keeps history on the right track.

In 2010 the whole of the public sector made up 19.7% of NZ’s total workforce. In 2023 it made up 18.8%. Claims there has been an explosion in the public sector are pure spin to justify sacking hard working Kiwis to pay for unaffordable tax cuts. This govt has the wrong priorities

NZ can be a world leader in renewable energy, we can be one of the world’s most sustainable food producers, we can tackle climate change and create jobs and a better future at the same time. Instead our National govt thinks NZ’s future is about digging up coal. They’re wrong!

Devastating news for staff working with some of our most vulnerable children today. The people losing their jobs at Oranga Tamariki and the Ministry of Education do amazing work. They have homes and families too. Once again we see how wrong this government’s priorities are.

The entire world witnessed allied action in the skies above Israel and neighboring countries. It demonstrated how truly effective unity in defending against terror can be when it is based on sufficient political will.
