Charles Connell was the nephew of the notorious NB postmaster of the same name, who caused outrage in 1860 by putting his own picture on the 5 cent stamp. They were supposed to be destroyed but he gave some to family & friends. One sold at auction last month for $6,655

There was a leather dealer in Halifax named Joseph Hamilton operating until at least 1846 (city council was not happy with his work,) and somebody by the same name requested a letter of marque for the schooner Weazle in 1813.

Matthew Henry Richey was born in Windsor, NS.

He was a Methodist minister, lawyer, city councillor, 2X Mayor of Halifax & Nova Scotia's 5th Lieutenant Governor.
