@circa35mm

My focus is capturing the landscape we live in as stand-alone images, bodies of work, and creating narratives as artists' books. I also run @biblioscapes.

#myweeklyphoneimage Continuing the weekly aim, no camera outings again but the phone to hand. Another three days on the road with work and a misty winters morning watching the world pass by.

This has a feeling of marmite, like or loathe, depending on what catches your eye. It was a few years ago I shot this, one morning, walking around the local streets. I was probably here a 30 or 40 minutes and I suspect the ā€˜locals’ going past were thinking I was some nutter.

Time to write my third newsletter of the year, I myself one a month at the start of the month. Should get it out this evening and normally try to pop a couple of new images in among my ramblings. circa35mm.com/newsletter

Two months in and #myweeklyphoneimage has kept my interest and brain thinking photography, as without it I have basically done nothing. I am enjoying looking up as much as I am looking down, the bold shapes set against and clear or interesting sky, sometimes with a little light.

I managed to get to the coast last week and grabbed a few potential shots on the phone, this is the one I’ve selected for #myweeklyphoneimage. It’s different from what I would normally do but I liked the feeling of movement in the water and the balance of tones.

A little bit of Scottish zen on what was a dreich autumnal day. Misty rain providing a lovely backdrop from the waters edge with the sought after lone tree on an island.

A reworked version of a shot I took over 10 years ago just as I was getting into photography. I find it enjoyable looking back through old work, often wondering what was I thinking, but also looking for opportunities to revisit old shots and apply a new approach to them.

My weekly commute has been a significant contributor to #myweeklyphoneimage and it is giving me ideas for potential projects away from the work that traditionally appeals to me.
