At 18, my academic advisor told me that “higher education might not be for you” as I struggled my 1st year at Uni. I was determined to prove him wrong. Yesterday, this first-generation, state-schooled student graduated from Cambridge with a PhD.

Our final finisher, Vishal Gupta, crossed the finish line on The Mall in a time of 9:02.

Being a marathon finisher is all about crossing that magic line at 26.2 miles. It's not about how long it takes you to do so.

At undergraduate level, Harvard awarded Anselm $5,000 after his thesis was rated one of the best in his year. Now he has landed a PhD scholarship in Anthropology at Columbia. Success to him.
