For quasistatic processes, the optimal work performed is the difference in Helmholtz's free energy. Is there another convex function that generalizes Jarzynski's equality to optimal processes?

Yann LeCun, the AI chief of Meta, has a surprisingly sane attitude to quantum computing. This deserves celebration and also investigation because he’s making a very good point. youtube.com/watch?v=Q8A4wE…

We see constant progress in the world every day, from better cars to faster phones to virtual reality and the internet of things. However, despite all the technological and engineering advances, science seems to be slowing down. youtube.com/watch?v=KBT9vF…

Sometimes the relaxation function of a system may be too hard to calculate. How can we deduce the differential equation behind the relaxation function given the differential equation of motion of the system?

Kibble-Zurek mechanism is widely known to occur in the transverse-field quantum Ising chain at the thermodynamic limit. In the notes below, I show that it appears also for the simple driven underdamped Brownian motion, under appropriate limits. arxiv.org/abs/2412.01436
