Rent controls obviously won’t fix the entire private rental sector, but we need them desperately.

It couldn’t be any clearer.

Every time you hear a landlord or estate agent tell you that rent controls don’t work, remember that they’re only saying that so they can continue doing this.

Rent controls now.

All we have is each other. The only solution to the crises we face is to organise our communities and our class for power.

This is a policy choice by those in power. It doesn’t have to be this way. But the change we need will only come through organising and building power, not begging for crumbs.

The homelessness crisis isn’t an unavoidable fact of life, it’s the direct result of political choices made by those in power. And as those choices have been made, they can be unmade. But only if we’re organised and willing to fight for it.

A 30% (£700) rent increase is pure greed enabled by a rotten housing system, plain and simple.

We need rent controls, badly. But we also need an entirely new housing system that prioritises people’s need for housing over lining the pockets of the wealthy.
