Day two complete. Another long day in the field as a joint NatureScot and UKCEH team are counting the Puffin population on the Isle of May as the blog explains: isleofmaynnr.wordpress.com

The Mandarin has flegded, was again lucky enough to capture most of the fledging on trailcam. They certainly do come into the world with a thud! 18 days earlier than last year, 10 from 11 fledged, last year was 9 from 10. Dorset Bird Club BTO BBC Springwatch

One of our amazing volunteers found a Brünnich's Guillemot egg in this photo from Greenland! Guillemot eggs vary widely in colour & have intricate patterns. This one is a lovely blue-green. Let us know if you manage to spot it! 🥚🧐

Northwalesone David Steel RSPB Bempton Cliffs Thank you 😊 That’s the thing about Bempton it’s not just about the puffins. I do have a soft spot for the razorbill & I’ve been lucky enough to see that glorious yellow in the past

This presumably Iceland-bound Slavonian Grebe in glorious full summer plumage has graced Loch of Spiggie, Shetland for the last few days. That eye!

We’ve god 40+ Great Northern Divers offshore at the minute. Most are immature birds or adult still in early moult in to summer plumage, but a few are looking stunning.
