So many great nonprofit leaders on this list! Congrats to everyone, including Michelle #JustPay Jackson #JustPay | Human Services Council of New York who has been an absolute force in demanding better wages for nonprofit human services staff. #JustPay cityandstateny.com/power-lists/20…
CVAP advocates work tirelessly in every precinct in NYC, helping survivors navigate the legal system and find safety. When New Yorkers get the support they need, the whole city heals. Don't let unnecessary budget cuts take that away! #NYCNeedsCVAP safehorizon.org/positions-stat…
Thank you Alvin Bragg and team for joining us at our Champion gala last night and for supporting our work with victims & survivors!
It is truly my honor to work alongside Michael Polenberg and Safe Horizon. Your dedication to survivors is nothing short of remarkable, and inspires me to answer that call every day. 💖
My real life heroes, champions of our work at Safe Horizon. Thank you Catalina Cruz, Esq. Robyn L. Enes for always standing with survivors. The world is a better place because of your grit and compassion.
These powerful words aren't from us, they're from survivors who found the support they needed from CVAP. Mayor Eric Adams's proposed budget threatens to slash funding for CVAP, leaving thousands of New Yorkers without critical support in the wake of violence and abuse. #NYCNeedsCVAP
This day last week we took to the steps of City Hall in a united call for restored CVAP funding. We heard stories of strength found through working with CVAP, and these signs from last week's poster-making session capture the essence of why #NYCNeedsCVAP !
The proposed City budget plans to cut $3 million from Safe Horizon's Crime Victim Assistance Program, leaving 11,000 New Yorkers without vital support after a crime.
Join us in telling Mayor Eric Adams:
Public safety = survivor support
Restore CVAP funding NOW!
Survivors and advocates united earlier today on the steps of City Hall, sending a clear message - #NYCNeedsCVAP !
CVAP plays a critical role in supporting survivors of violence, providing them with safety planning, counseling, legal aid, and a path to healing.
Kudos, Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal Sen. Mike Gianaris. We needed the Adult Survivors Act bc the criminal system so often fails survivors like it did in the Weinstein case – & it’s why we support changing the criminal code now to make it easier for survivors to testify in support of each other. (1/2)
.Safe Horizon CEO Liz Roberts testifies at the New York City Council Public Safety & Finance Committee hearing on the need to fully restore $3 million to our Crime Victim Assistance Program that helps 54,000 crime victims each year.
Keep CVAP funded! Mayor Eric Adams must restore his $3 million cut to Safe Horizon precinct-based program for crime victims ASAP! #NYCneedsCVAP
My incredible Safe Horizon colleagues turned OUT this morning to demand that Mayor Eric Adams restore his $3M cut to our Crime Victim Assistance Program. CVAP helped 54,000 victims and survivors last year. This cut makes no sense. Keep CVAP funded! #NYCneedsCVAP
Love to see my Safe Horizon colleagues out in force to urge Mayor Eric Adams to restore his $3 million cut to our Crime Victim Assistance Program which helped 54,000 New Yorkers in FY23. Keep CVAP funded! #NYCneedsCVAP
Thank you Keith Powers for joining our press conference today in support of Safe Horizon’s Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) which helped nearly 54,000 New Yorkers impacted by crime in FY23. Mayor Eric Adams needs to restore his $3 million cut to this valuable program!
“It was a strong case in 2020,” Nicole Blumberg, an assistant district attorney, said, adding: “It remains a strong case in 2024.” Kudos to Alvin Bragg for retrying this important case. nytimes.com/2024/05/01/nyr…
