Yesterday, Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed HB568 which removed tax exemptions for confederate organizations. This raises serious concerns about fairness & fiscal responsibility. It's past time to align our tax code w/ our values and vision for a more inclusive VA. nytimes.com/2024/05/17/us/…

I want Virginia’s healthcare workers to know we did everything we could to get this bill across the finish line. We carefully crafted bill language, picked up bipartisan votes, & built a statewide coalition — but the Gov fumbled at the one yard line with dangerous consequences.

The new biennial budget includes significant investments to protect the Chesapeake Bay, improve water quality, & help us respond to the climate change.

Sincere thanks to Chesapeake Bay Foundation foundation for getting us lawmakers out on the water & learning more about the Bay today.

The new budget, which contains historic investments in K-12 public education & early childhood programs, passes 94-6 in the House of Delegates.

While disappointed RGGI was left out…The budget includes huge wins for clean water:

- 231m for Ag best practices
- 20m for Pay for Outcomes pilot
- 400m for wastewater upgrades
- 11m for oysters
- 100m for climate adaptation
- 1m to create the Office of Resilience
- and more!

As a reminder, the General Assembly will be back in Richmond to vote on Monday afternoon.

Next up for 2025: beginning the process to enshrine reproductive rights in Virginia's constitution.
