On November 15, 2022, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Ruben was attacked at his home on Frigate Drive in Orlando, FL. Ruben was injured and subsequently died from his injuries.

This evening, Chief Smith was recognized as the Department of Criminal Justice’s Distinguished Alumni recipient with the UCF College of Community Innovation and Education.

On Saturday, April 27, the Drug Enforcement Division participated in the semi-annual DEA Prescription Pill Take Back. DED hosted five sites throughout the City of Orlando. In total, we collected 273 pounds of unwanted prescription medications.

Today, our Fugitive Investigative Unit has arrested Joel Santos Garcia (White Hispanic Male 38yoa). Orlando Police Department Homicide Detectives have charged Santos Garcia with Second Degree Felony Murder and Burglary of a Dwelling with a Firearm.

Our Crime Scene Investigators recently stopped by the Orlando Fire Dept to receive training on collecting evidence in arson investigations. They even got some snuggles in with their arson dog.

Officers are working an incident at Orange Avenue and S. Lucerne Circle. Traffic is being diverted east and west at Anderson Street. Traffic northbound Orange Avenue is being diverted east and west at Gore St. Updates to follow.
