A+ agility & body control on this tough block by the Fresno Grizzlies Darius Perry. It starts by leading with the glove & it finishes with a late shoulder turn in response to the high bounce to direct the ball back to the plate.

Against LHP’S most base stealers guess when they will not throw over & break on their 1st move. You don’t need a great move. Just throw over at the right time. The LHP’S with great moves pick runners off when they are not running.

A series of smooth one piece moves on “stri-balls” from the Fresno Grizzlies Darius Perry. These are all from the same game. Each has a different run prevention value depending on the count.

Helcris Olivares of the Portland Sea Dogs picks off two runners in one inning w/this unorthodox reverse throw pick off at 2B. It was 1st used by Mike Marshall in the 70’s. It takes considerable arm strength. Marshall felt if the MIF beat the runner to 2B he was going to be out.

From the Arkansas-Florida game today. With a runner on 3B tagging the Arkansas CF dekes an early catch before he really catches the ball. It triggers the Florida runner to leave early & then return to 3B to retag the base. That gives Arkansas time to throw him out at HP.

I absolutely LOVE seeing this!

Two 1st and 3rd situations last night that catchers handled perfectly!

1. Tyler Stephenson with an arm fake to 2B and then catches the R3 in 'no man's land' for an easy out.

2. Henry Davis fires a bullet to 2B and then catches the return throw

Premium low ball move by the Fresno Grizzlies catcher Darius Perry. He stays under a low breaking ball & smoothly & quickly moves it up & into the zone. Not as easy as he makes it look.

White Sox Korey Lee with an outstanding catch on a pop near the dugout. He finds the ball, finds the fence & figure 4 slides to control his momentum. Notice how he uses his bare hand to help control his direction & speed once in his slide.

With runners on 2B & 3B & running “down angle” on this infield GB, the Brrwers Joey Wiemers keeps the rundown alive until the batter runner gets to 2B. The key is once you see that you will be out, you stop & create a rundown verses a quick tag out by the catcher.

Two knee block of HP by Braves Travis d’Arnaud. Throw takes him into the line which enables him to block the plate. With the infield in he is still able to block HP w/o the ball. (Some differing opinions on this interpretation)

Option 3 in the 1st & 3rd option list would be a steal & stop going to 2B & the runner on 3B would try to score on the ensuing rundown.(IE. 1B running hard towards 2B,MIF running hard & out of control) The scoreboard & personnel matchups usually tell you what your best option is.

(quickly squares his shoulders up to HP) after the throw passes the pitcher. This triggers the MIF to come up to get the ball in order to throw home. If you are trying to steal a run, the runner on 3B would break just before the catcher releases the ball.(Arm fake & you are toast)

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 1ST & 3RD OFFENSE-ATTENTION TO DETAIL
On this play the Brewers are trying to steal 2B(Help a lesser run tool runner?) to either stay out of the DP or to put another runner into scoring position. The runner at 3B starts with a shorter lead & fakes breaks
