Should Colin Selby appear, he will become the 1,000th player in Kansas City Royals history to play in at least 1 regular season game, making Kansas City the 23rd franchise to eclipse 1,000 players.

Wally Bunker (left) is credited as the first player ever.

The is a Laurila playing for the US against Finland in today's U18 World Hockey game, and predictably the TSN broadcasters are mispronouncing his name (which is Finnish).

Zero hits for the Cubs through seven. Approaching the time where, statistically speaking, a no-hitter is realistically possible. Still highly unlikely.

Random complimentary tweet here. Just tuned in to the Cubs game on MLBTV, and Jon Sciambi and Jim Deshaies are not only a great broadcast duo, they are really good guys. Was reminded of this when they came to Fenway this past weekend.

The Red Sox and Yankees combined to outscore their opponents 32-3 today, with both winning teams having a position player pitch the ninth. Both losing teams also had a position player take the mound.

Just noticed that Baseball Savant is now categorizing Shelby Miller's gyro-slider as a slider, whereas until recently it had been categorizing it as a cutter. Miller described the pitch to me as 'a new slider this year that is kind of cutter-y. '
