'Politics is politics if you are able to solve people’s problems, especially poverty. Many of the people who want to help our people should concentrate on the issue of homestead income,” President Museveni emphasised.

“For me, I don't believe in Labour export. Countries that externalize labour are countries that have missed something. I have proof. I have never seen South Koreans exporting labour, Me I am now for the South Korean approach,” President Museveni said.

President Museveni said that Uganda was among the victims of pseudo ideologies until 1965 when their students’ movement decided to fight those who fronted politics of identity which had kept the continent backward.

'Our mission is the socio-economic transformation of our people by moving away from the non-money, traditional, pre-capitalist non-money economy to a money economy with a society, composed of the middle class and the skilled working class,” President Museveni said.

'We have so much capacity, what is disturbing us is mainly value addition. Therefore, for investors who wish to tap into Uganda’s potential, this is the right place and it is the right time,' said President Museveni.

“Our idea of not focusing on tribes or religions helped a lot. That’s why we were able to build a strong army that has ensured Uganda is peaceful for almost 40 years. For us, we don’t look at your tribe or religion but your capacity to shoot well.”- President Museveni

President Museveni said that by exporting minerals and raw materials, the region is essentially exporting jobs as is now the case.

President Museveni urged fellow African leaders to sensitise development partners on the value of having raw materials processed on the continent instead of them exporting and adding value from their countries.

“What NRM government is doing now is to set up as many factories as possible to ensure that the youth are employed. This helps to prevent them from being diverted by economic and political saboteurs,” President Museveni said.

President Museveni commended religious leaders for listening to the teachings of Jesus Christ of preaching the right gospel of unity and hard work (wealth creation), saying that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government has been preaching that ideology all the time.

For a long time, President Museveni has been telling leaders at all levels to mobilize the peasants, to start engaging in commercial agriculture 68% of whom are in subsistence production.
