An Armet and Davis classic. Originally a Kerry’s Coffee Shop the Mel’s in Sherman Oaks shows the earlier elements of Googie design that Armet and Davis would take to exaggerated levels in later years. The angled roof lines, large signs and glass fronts are all keys to Googie

Googie classic in Hawthorne, CA. Built in 1957, still operating today. Most of the mid century design elements are here incl the asymmetrical roof, oversized windows to draw people in, the 3 pillars going through the roof holding up the sign and, of course, the coffee shop font
