It is weird that Apple didn’t develop an LLM given their talent pool (or capture one of the big independent AI labs).

One of the clearest use cases for LLMs is as an actual working voice assistant. That was obvious for 18 months. I am surprised that they don’t have the models.

This paper is very useful in graduation/reunion season:

Few conspiracy theories are as awesome as this one in Schreiber’s The Theory of Everything Else:

The Titanic sank because its sinking was so famous that time travelers from the future traveled back to see the sinking but too many time tourists did, and their weight sank the ship

There are big benefits to being a trendsetter in music: Artists who are among the first to a new genre are more popular than those who come later.

Given the small number of people who use frontier models today, I think many people who found AI useless when using the free version of ChatGPT are going to be shocked by the capabilities when GPT-4o is made freely available worldwide.

Expect a burst of concern & excitement.
