Tennessee traveling evangelical pastors, Benjamin & Shantaal Garlick, who were arrested for child sex crimes in September, have been indicted on new charges of child rape.

The reason the trans identity/experience is confusing to us is because trans people were deliberately kept from us through genocide and erasure and we were purposely taught to believe no other people exist besides those of us who are not trans (cis).

Point being that while there are ways to raise empowered women, there is no way to raise a girl not to be abused by men. Because that is a choice men make. Because they're not raised to not be abusive.

And before patriarchal men swoop in to claim this is why you raise your daughters to be doormats, silent on their abuse, but with a gun & the mandate not to accept abuse (because then it's their fault if it happens), nearly every abused woman I've encountered was raised in that.

To the men who claim they will teach their daughters to be strong, not be victims, my parents did the same. They modeled an equitable partnership, supported our autonomy, & refused to accept limitations for us. It didn't protect me or my sister bc women don't cause male abuse.
