Richard Wagstaff, NZCTU President has an important and timely piece in the Sunday Star-Times today. There is no need to drag 90-day trials back from the past to which they belong. They don’t work, and that’s according to the government’s own evidence.🧵 thepost.co.nz/a/business/350…

“I’ve been mistaken for an orderly, a cleaner, and the girl who collects the food menus. I’ve even walked into rooms where patients tell me they’re waiting for the doctor because they assume that can’t be me.” — Dr Vanisi Prescott

John Campbell makes a good point about Chris Luxon

'So, he’s started calmly. But then, so did the Titanic.'

Chloe Swarbrick winning 48% of the candidate votes in Auckland Central is amazing.

Nobody has won a higher % in Auckland Central since Labour's Richard Prebble in 1987.

Either the Government is serious about climate change or it allows new oil and gas exploration. It’s one or the other.

Just updating this now that we have official results and the Greens did in fact double their party vote share in Panmure-Otahuhu (4.12% to 8.47%), where Efeso Collins ran. Doubling your share of the vote in an electorate is a big achievement, even when starting from a low base.

Julie Anne Genter’s majority in Rongotai is now 2,717 with special votes counted - three times what it was on election night. The Greens winning the party vote over Labour is remarkable. The second electorate ever, after Wellington Central, for the Greens to win the party vote.

Is the real reason that Christopher Luxon won't be attending the Pacific Islands forum because he is embarrassed that his caucus does not have any Pacifica members?

With a larger share of the vote and more MPs than we’ve had before, Green Party will lead the ongoing fight to eliminate poverty, honour Te Tiriti, protect nature, and build a climate-resilient future for our mokopuna.

So with Angee Nicholas losing Te Atatu it means National is without (as far as I can see) an MP with clear Pacific heritage.
