I heard from a Manhattan mom friend whose two kids have missed a total of 35 school days this school year (most of that caretaking fell on her). They were sick days. Covid, multiple bouts of strep, fevers, ear infections, etc. Similar numbers among a lot of my own class.

But do ask moms missing work for sick kids, again, if they 'attach no discernible urgency' to sch. Don't forget to duck.
