No. There is no law that states we must pay. This was a law imposed by government in order to collect revenue and keep their comms unit in place. A double bluff.

Couple of things.

Employment status is not a matter of choice, one must fit the legal criteria.

Ryan Tubridy does not fit the legal criteria to be self-employed.

Yes, RTÉ mgmt bent the rules and misled their own board.
They were wrong, and deserve to be punished.
They did what they did to try to protect RTÉ.

Who was Ryan Tubridy trying to protect?

He colluded with RTÉ mgmt to hide his special deal because he knew publication would damage his reputation.

He claims ignorance of all RTÉ mgmt did to boost his income and hide the fact of it.

‘I am an innocent man.’

The RTÉ debacle was caused by Ryan Tubridy’s greed. He demanded more pay, while all around him were suffering pay cuts.

Trying to satisfy his demands has cost several leading mgmt in RTÉ their jobs and/or their reputations.

This Govt do not represent the best interests of the people of this country, This Govt needs to go.
